The Brand

The brand

Meet Liv

Liv is an AI assistant that manages your billing, financial tracking, inbox, and daily tasks so nothing falls through the cracks. She keeps your business organized, delivers clear updates, and reclaims your time so you can focus on client work and growing your business.

Mission

Give independent business owners the operational capacity of a dedicated back-office team, automating bookkeeping prep, client scheduling and payment follow-ups quietly in the background.

Vision

A world where small business owners spend their time delivering great work and growing revenue, rather than managing the administrative stack piling up behind it.

The brand

Liv's key features

Six promises the product keeps, and they shape everything from the copy to the controls.

The brand

AI in Liv

Liv is an AI assistant, and it is specific about where the intelligence goes. AI does the reading and the drafting. Your numbers are computed, not guessed. Being clear about that line is what makes the AI claim worth something.

Where AI works
  • Reads receipts and bills. A photo or a forwarded PDF becomes a filed expense, with the amounts pulled out for you to confirm.
  • Answers questions in plain English. Ask about your money and get an answer, with the records it came from.
  • Learns your voice. Drafts sound like you wrote them, because Liv studied how you actually write.
  • Sits in meetings. What you agreed becomes tasks and change orders. Coming
Where it never goes
  • Your numbers. Balances, what you are owed, what is safe to spend, your tax set-aside: all computed from your own records, the same answer every time.
  • Deciding what matters. Mail is ordered by how long it has waited, not by a guess at importance.
  • Acting on its own. AI proposes. You approve. Nothing leaves your business without you.

How to talk about it: say what it does, not what it is. Clients care that their receipts file themselves, not which model read them. "AI assistant" is how Liv is introduced, on the sign-in screen, the app listing and the site. It is never how Liv talks about herself. In conversation she simply says what she did and where it came from, because a person reading about their own money wants the fact, not the technology behind it.

The Logo

Identity

One color

Stamps, paperwork, a single-color print. The orb goes solid so the shape survives without the color doing the work. The light version is for dark grounds.

Identity

The orb

The dawn orb is the brand at small sizes and inside the product: the favicon, the app tile, the dot beside Liv's name in the conversation. Below about 72px of width the wordmark gives way to the orb alone. Planned: the orb animates for thinking and loading states. When that is built, motion must be transform-only (scale, drift), gentle, and honor prefers-reduced-motion, the way the sign-in orb already does.

Identity

Clearspace and minimum sizes

The dashed frame is the rule: keep one orb diameter of empty space on every side of the lockup. Nothing crosses it, and nothing docks against the check, which is the side people crowd because it looks like empty air.

  • Lockup, minimum 72px wide.Below that the check thins and the orb starts to fuse with the i. Use the orb alone instead.
  • Orb, minimum 16px.It is drawn to survive exactly this, which is why the favicon drops the tile.
  • The speaker dot is not the logo.Inside a conversation, a small dot marks who is talking. That is an avatar, and the 16px minimum does not apply to it.
  • App tile, 180px and up.Rendered from liv-icon.svg, never scaled up from a smaller PNG.
Identity

What not to do

Common ways a logo loses its shape. Keeping to these keeps Liv recognisable everywhere it appears.

Do not stretchScale both axes together, always.
Do not recolorThe three stops are the brand. Change them in the tokens or not at all.
Do not place on the gradientThe mark cannot compete with its own palette. Use plain ground.
Do not rotateIt sits on the baseline. Always.
Do not add effectsNo shadows, bevels, outlines, glows or strokes.
Do not use the ink version on darkUse the light mono lockup, which exists for exactly this.
Identity

Patterns

Four shapes, all pulled out of the marks themselves: the orb gives circles and arcs, the check gives a rising stroke. Use them as quiet furniture on covers, dividers, decks and social posts. They sit behind content, never on top of it, and never over figures.

Dot field · the orb, repeated

Check repeat · the v, tiled

Orbit · the glow, drawn

Tint stack · the three stops

  • Behind, never in front.Patterns are ground. Text and figures always sit clear of them.
  • Two per surface, at most. They punctuate a layout. More than two and the page starts to buzz.
  • Tinted, not solid.Keep them below about 50% opacity so they never compete with the logo.

Color & Type

Color

Three gradient stops and an ink. These are the exact values used in the product, so this page and the app are always in step. The CMYK values are a starting point for print rather than a profile-managed conversion, so ask your printer to proof them: accurate CMYK depends on the stock and the press.

The gradient is 135°, peach to violet at 55%, then sky. It is the assistant's voice made visible: it appears on the orb, on Liv's own speech, and on the one control that sends something out of the business. It is always a fill, never an outline, glow, halo or edge.

135° · #FFAE85 → #CFA6F2 55% → #8FC5F4
  • Figures stay in ink.Amounts, dates and numbers are always ink on a plain ground. The color belongs to Liv's voice, not to your data.
  • A warm palette, no green.Peach, violet and sky carry the brand, and rose is the affirmative color.
  • Dark mode has its own stops. The gradient warms down to #E88F63, #9F7FE0 and #5E9AD6 so it stays gentle on a dark ground.
Color and type

Typography

Liv uses the typeface each platform already ships, so the product looks native everywhere and nothing waits on a font to download. For anything made outside the product, a deck, a print piece, a Figma file, use Inter, which is free and closely matches the proportions of Apple's SF Pro.

JetBrains Mono outside the product, and the platform's own mono inside it. Every figure is set in it, always with tabular numerals.

  • Figures are always tabular.A column of amounts that does not line up reads as sloppy bookkeeping, which is the one thing this product cannot look like.
  • Sentence case everywhere.Title Case On Buttons reads like software from 2008. Uppercase is for the 11px label only.
  • One typeface family. If a display face is ever added it belongs on marketing headlines only, never inside the product. The logo is drawn artwork, so it never depends on one.

Voice & Expression

Expression

Voice and tone

Every line below is real copy from the product. Liv speaks in the first person about what she did, in the second person about your business, and she stays calm and specific rather than excitable.

  • Plain, short, one idea.No jargon, no acronyms, nothing a person would have to ask about.
  • Honest about the gap."I could not read it" is always preferred to a confident zero.
  • Calm by default. No exclamation marks and no "urgent". Color signals a problem only when there genuinely is one.
  • Counts in words to nine."Two emails", not "2 emails". Figures stay numerals.
  • Clear, not apologetic.State what happened and what is true now, without "Sorry!" or "Oops".
  • Ranks by fact.Ordered by how long something has waited, rather than by a guess at what matters most.

Tone shifts with the stakes; the voice stays the same. A morning briefing is warm and brief. Anything about to leave your business is plain and specific about what will happen. When Liv cannot do something, she says why and offers the next step.

Expression

Imagery

Liv uses no stock photography. This is someone's business and their money, so everything on screen is either real or it is not there at all.

  • Photography stays out of the product. In marketing, use real things: a real desk, a real screen, a real person who agreed to it.
  • Icons: monoline, 24px grid.2.2 stroke, round caps and joins, currentColor, never filled, never two-tone, never emoji as an icon.
  • The orb is the only illustration. No mascots, characters, isometric offices or floating 3D shapes. She has a presence rather than a face.
  • Screenshots show the real product.Always the current build, and never invented figures presented as a real account.
  • The gradient is the only decoration. If a surface needs livening up, the answer is space and hierarchy, not an illustration.

Applications

On an iPhone

The tile is mostly dark with one bright object, so on a home screen full of loud saturated squares it reads first and looks like an instrument rather than a toy. The neighbouring icons here are sketches, not Apple's artwork; Liv's is the real rendered tile.

Practice

Using the brand well

  • Always use the supplied artwork. The logo is drawn geometry. Setting "Liv" in a typeface is never a substitute for it.
  • Gradient as fill.Color lives inside a shape. Keep it off outlines, halos, glows and borders.
  • Give the mark room. One orb of clearspace on every side, and plain ground behind it.
  • Let the figures stay quiet.Amounts and dates in ink, so the numbers are the easiest thing on the page to read.
  • Check any wordmark letter by letter. Before anything ships, read the name through once. It takes a second and it catches everything.
  • Use mono where color cannot go.Stamps, engraving and one-color print get the mono lockups rather than a greyscale of the gradient.
